How to give my truck more power?
Well my truck seems to be not as responsive when i hit the gas. What kind of mods can i do to it so that i feel more of its power when i slam the gas down?
Also what are just some basic things i can start doing to my trucks engine to make it better? Im not worried about keeping it stock. I just dont know much about what to do to cars and trucks to make them faster, better performance, etc. Im working on it though

when the last time you did a full tune up, do all maintenaince before modding . just making sure evreything is up to par will run good . then start with
cai
throttlebody
highflow cat
muffler
1.7hs
that would be a great start and check your plenum for a oil leak

And what do you mean tuner?
PM Hemifever and tell him that you want the $275 special for the SCT for your truck. you plug it in, program gets loaded (while saving your stock tune) and you feel like you have a new truck.
1.7s are bolt on roller rockers (also know as inept man's camshaft). Take off your valvecovers and replace the rockers. All you need is a good torque wrench and some sockets.
The tuner will give you the biggest gain.
Oh, and get a tune up (spark plugs, cap, rotor, wires). And a spectre HPr air filter. They are half the price (25 bucks) of a K&N and look beefier/better quality.
With the Cloth air filter, tuner and tune up (Cap, plugs, rotor, wires) your truck will be like new. 180* thermostat and plenum plate kit from hughes is also a good $130 investment (Be sure to get the new intake bolts, they can not be reused)
YOu are looking at about $600 to have a truck that has 40 more HP. That $600 will be the cheapest power gain. After that it is $$$$ for less of a gain.

THat is the SCT. It programs your PCM (Powertrain control Module) and advanced timing and fuel curves. It makes your engine run more efficiently and with more power. Ever hear of a "performance chip" well this is basically it.
You plug it into the OBDII connector that is under the dash by where the gas pedal is but closer to the seats. it looks like an old school printer cable pin connector.
If you PM hemifever, he will sell it to you for $275 and with 3 tunes.
However, you should do the hughes plenum repair kit and get a 180* thermostat. My guess is that you are not to familiar with cars. If you have tools and a long weekend, I would say go for it. It is not a hard job, but can take a couple days. YOu do not want to do a tune if you have a plenum leak. To check, take off the airbox and look down your throttle body with a flashlight. If you see oil pooled or you see oil in the corners, the plenum is leaking.

SCT is a tuner basically what it does is reprograms your trucks computer with a new better program that will " open up" your trucks potential im looking in to getting one right now it seems pretty cool it plugs in to a connector that should be between the gas petal and center consel thingy about shin height
