Wow that is an amazing deal. I paid like $185 for one hub bearing on my 2500 4X4 with 4-Wheel ABS. You can get a pair for under $60??? Dang, 1/2 tons are awesome...

Good to know....the 35" tires on my ride just took out the front passenger side bearing...I'll be getting the better quality $101. timken option though...which hopefully will hold up longer.

those 2 hubs for 60 bucks on ebay seems a little sketchy to me.... I paid around 140 each for mine from a (gasp) Ford dealership in town... They have the best prices on chassis parts I've found around here... You should be able to tell if it ABS, there wiould be wires going to it, and I imagine there would be an exciter ring somewhere down there? Like a row of square teeth around the cv joint maybe? Mine is RWABS only so I dunno what these trucks are like up front with ABS

Changing them isn't necessarily that bad, I changed both of mine, one twice, and the only hard part was gettin the hub unsiezed from the knuckle... Once that was free it was a snap

yea didnt notice wires on them when i changed the u-joints, theyre really easy to do i already took it all apart before, im think the pair for $60 is scetchy also, they are $180 a piece at autozone. you say timkin is good? i was recommended national, how are they?

also, what i do not know is how to replace the tie rod end. can anyone shed some light on this?

Need to separate the tie rod end from the knuckle. I use two hammers. (both 32 ounce single jacks), hold one against one side of the arm it goes thru, SMACK the opposite side, maybe a couple times, and it will pop right out. (take the nut off first. )

On the other end of the tie rod, is a sleeve, with a bolt preventing things from turning. Simply loosen the bolt on the sleeve, and unscrew the tie rod end from it. Take some measurements first, so when you install the new one, you can at least get it close........ and then take it immediately to get aligned.

well correction timken WAS good....I just visited my mechanic about my van and mentioned timken to him and he said they were sold and now the stuff is made in china and is the same garbage you get from autozone and the like....sign....They were the largest bearing manufacturer in the world too...

the way i see it, 60 bucks for a pair is good even if you have to replace them every other year, i paid 150 a piece for mine a year ago, and now they both need replacing again. go figure.

any difference between years? i found these national bearings for $58 each but it only says up to 99? does it change because they put bigger calipers on it in 00-01?
