Anyone do a unimount bearing elimination

I think yukon makes a kit that is just over a grand. Its alot of cash, but it gives you 4wd the way God intended, before pansies began driving trucks.I was trying to explain manual hubs to some jeep drivin dummy the other day.He said Im not gettin out in a mudhole to lock in hubs.I just shook my head and walked away.I hope a pile of cash hits me so I can test out this kit.Unfortunatley you have to buy new wheels with a hub space hole,so goodbye off road wheels.

Stock wheels won't fit???? That seems rather counter productive..... Blow over a grand on a kit, only to find that you can't bolt your wheels on????? Erm. That doesn't sound like such a good plan to me.
I wouldn't mind the serviceable bearings, but, don't really care for locking hubs. Using some parts off of one of the old full time front axles would work for me. Now, whether I can actually still find one in one of the yards around here is an entirely separate issue.

Well I wouldnt put it on and THEN discover the wheels wont fit.I would research it first and make decisions based on that.My plan starts way before the credit card gets lit up.Manual hubs are great for me,but some people may not understand all of their benefits, like the wheel not falling off when you push your unit bearings too long.I have met more Dodge owners than I would care too that way.Hopefully Dodge and Ford will continue to use the straight axle manual hubs on the 3/4 ton and up trucks.Thats truly the HD way to go.

Keep in mind the Ram they are working on is a 1500 with 3/4 ton Dana 60 axles underneath. I also saw in this months Four Wheeler magazine, there is a company that makes replacement axle shafts that eliminate the two piece passenger axle, which in turn eliminates the CAD. Food for thought.

It is a MPG project it has a 3in lift and 35in tires it started out with 8mpg and they are ganna get it up to 30. The first thing was the E-fan, thats were I got the idea, next was just taking junk out of the truck like spare tire cleaning the bed out stuff like that, missed few months. Then I got DVR best freaken thing ever and saw the hub change I started with 8mpg and iv done my own fixes to get 11 I think im doing good for not changing my plenum yet lol

I seriously doubt that they are going to get 30MPG out of a truck, without some seriously high dollar mods. Displacement on demand, SEVERE lightening of the truck, and a hellacious tail wind. Its a truck, with a V-8, if the mange to break into the low 20's as an average, I will be highly impressed.

cheep hub conversion
All right your green horns, listen up.
Chances are your dodge has a front axle dana 60. search it up, but several other trucks have used this same axle. so go to a junk yard and find a truck with the same axle ends (ie, king pin or ball joint) and just take all of the parts off of it right down to the caliper bracket and outer axle shafts. Then with alittle free time install them on your unit and there you go full floating locking hubs.
hope this helps, any questions just ask.
