well you could have used royal gold in there and its not going to change the way the thing is engineered or make it last forever...bottom line lsd failure on these trucks is very very common...I know I had mine rebuild a few months back...Royal purple is in the end after all the hyper and price markups...just oil synthetic or not its not a magic cureall for wear and tear..consider yourself lucky you got that many miles out of the lsd...most fail way sooner.

Are you sure its metal? If your speed sensor has ever been changed, you could be looking at plastic pieces from the old sensor. When I changed my speed sensor out it broke into about 5 pieces when I was trying to remove it. A couple of those pieces ended up in the pumpkin, oops. 10xxx miles with the pieces in there and I've had no issues.

Just throwing it out there...

**EDIT** Nevermind, I just re-read your post. Plastic doesn't stick to magnets.

locker likes to be locked more then unlocked... you get more tire wear and probably chirping around corners. I'd say you're better off with a true trac

Definitely the clutch pack rings broken.

You don't want a true locker in a DD esp. If the niece drives it. They do funny things in rain and snow/ice.

And my cover is scored from the ring gear too. I think Chrysler made the cover as small as possible, and then went a bit smaller.

Its been intresting to say the least. I can do really good burn outs and it kills my tires when I'm not.

I would not recomend doing a full time locker like I have.

But I do have to say its fine in the rain. I don't have an issue with it in the rain. Don't know about the snow/ice yet but will find out this year plowing.

Is your cover dented in a little bit?

We had a locker in our old Jeep, I never really noticed a problem with it except maybe 3 or 4 times in 9 months. At least when it was being driven down the road, offroad is a different story.

I'm bummed. I was hoping you'd say you found some Gummy Bears or the like in your differential, because if you had, I was going to remove the cover from mine to see if it had the same.

Oh well.
