Hey fellas, I am looking at a 95 ram 1500 that the owner says has a 5.9 v8.
Is this possible to swap an obd2 engine to an obd1 truck and have it run great. Its a 4x4 body has 170k plus. engine has like 80k.
here are a few pics of the truck. thanks for the help fellas.

yes you can do that swap. the block and heads are the exact same. the only difference is the intake and the sensors. if you put the 95 intake and sensors onto the 01 engine, it would be fine. you might also encounter an EGR/non EGR that could be blocked off or completely eliminated.

Default White Handles

White handles look nice...how did you do it? Paint separately or with the truck?

as long as you use the tranny from the OBD2 as well....the 95's came with a 46RH tranny. and the 96 and up used a 46re....so those would need changing as well.

The motor will bolt right up to an RH or RE tranny! Tranny has nothing to do with it if it's not being changed from the original one,The only difference would be the flex plate and harmonic balancer, if it currently has a 318 in it. And as long as you do what DV stated as far as the sensors and intake go. You'll be good to go. While you have the intake off, do the Hughes or APS plate upgrade to it. And put new precat o2 sensor(s) in it. Also make sure the cat is not clogged.

I read the OP's post again a couple times. I could be wrong, but, it seems like the work was already done by the PO. So yes is the answer to his question, and the OP should do a search here for "plenum".

Not if you are just swapping motors, and do what DV and I said.
