This stems from his commentary on another site about a certain oil filter that was a little too hard to take off the block.

I know the answer to that one, a screwdriver and a hammer Originally Posted by Laramie1997

I had to resort to the screwdriver method a few months ago on my Dodge and was cussing up a storm. Later, at a local tool store, I found an awesome oil filter wrench that is cam driven with three long fingers that revolve around the cam to crush the filter. Insert a 3/8" ratchet into the tool to operate the cam, and the filter removes with ease.Originally Posted by Laramie1997
LOL that was my next resort. Actually got the thing off using a strap wrench and a torque multiplier.
It looks like this

Record Breaker
I like that one VW, never saw one like that.
This is what I've been using for years, and I've never had a problem gettin them off with it

I like it over the large pliers as it can fit in a cramped space and there is more throw with the ratchet. I almost bought a set of pliers but was concerned about room to work with them since I'm using that filter wrench on more than one vehicle.Originally Posted by Maxx_Magnum

I'm going to have to look around for that tool close to me VW. Hell, if I can't find it, it's not like Norman is that far of a drive anyways.
Would be nice to have considering some of the other filters I have to change around here. Them 454's can be a bitch.

If you can't find one, drop me a line and I'll pick one up and mail it. I know a thing or two about shipping Originally Posted by Laramie1997
