Smile Performance...

Well, eventhough my poor college student *** doesnt have any money, I want to do some performance upgrade to my new girl. Yes, this truck has a hell of a lot more nut than my last one, but I want more! lol

I know about the CAI, you dont have to remind me. I want to either the Volant or K&N. Then get a custom dual exhaust, with a Cherry Bomb. After that, idk what to do. I know the first 2 are gonna cost atleast 6-800. But, I dont care, its worth it. But what else should I do? Plenum of course, but what else? Headers? idfk

Any and all suggestions would be appreciated!

Dual E-fans will pay for themselves after 1-2 yrs of average fuel consumption. 7-12 HP gain at the crank, colder A/C, better throttle response, truck runs cooler...
Ceramic coated shorty headers ($214 for a set of Summit black pacesetters on ebay right not)
Bore out the throttle body at a machine shop for cheap...
Spectre CAI for 120-140, 1/2 price of K&N and almost the same results...
1.7 RR's
SCT Tuner by Hemifever!!!!!!!!!!!! $275 canned $375 custom
Deep tranny pan and check valve delete..will save the life of your original trans

Umm I am assuming you have the basics? ie. tune-up ???Cap rotor plugs wires oil oil filter air filter coolant flush...checked all fluids and lubricants...brakes...ball joints..ect...

1. CAI
2. After cat exhaust
3. SCT tuner/tuned by hemifever
4. Throttle body
5. 1.7 roller rockers
6. electric fans
7. Box of kleenex after you see your bills

Of course, this should be done after your truck is in prime running condition. This is also my dream list, unfortunately, I've only completed step 3.

52fastman tb (if 5.9 & no/little towing), if you plan to tow, do poor mans tb mod (do search)
U/D pulleys are cheap & give decent/small gain, not good if your going crazy with the stereo
H/f cat & headers/ypipe is where 90% of the exhaust gains are
The SCT will definately help, forget Superchips/Hypertech
1.7rr give a decent gain, not too expensive or hard to install
Gears can help a ton, not cheap, especially if you have them installed
If you have 3.55s & go to 4.10s (or higher if bigger tires in future) will give very noticeable gains across the board.
Gears can actually improve mpg in city, may cost slightly on highway.
With 97 model year or older catbacks help.
If its a 98 or newer (or Indy/SST) catback will cost a lot & give next to no performance gains at all.(better sound mainly)

MAKE your own CAI, same net gains for $35-50 as a store bought one that can cost up to 10x more.

You'll spend about $15 on the PVC, boot and clamps and then anywhere from $20 to $35 on the filter depending on brand. PERFECT project for the "poor" college student.

You'll also get the satisfaction of making a mod yourself.

Just a couple I've made for guys around here:

I've just used a 3" boot with two hose clamps, but I've NOT done a 3.9, 5.2 or 5.9 yet. Have only made them for Hemi, 4.7, 4.0 I6s and GM 5.7s so far. If I remember how the TB was setup on my old 2nd Gen (it's been almost 8 years since I've had it) I believe the TB is setup a little different. Maybe someone will chime in who's either made one or installed a store bought on a 5.2 or 5.9.

This one is about $8 at my local Ace Hardware WITH the two clamps:
