Default Audible Engine Knock

Hey guys, I've got a knock happening when my truck is cold. It's quite noticeable inside and out. But once she's up to temp, it's pretty quiet. I'm wondering if it's a bearing going out because it sounds like it's coming from the bottom of the engine. I know my old Grand Am suffered from piston slap when it was cold (most GM's do), do Dodges? This is my first Dodge.

Oh yeah 1998 318 Auto.

due for an oil change soon? dads truck was in desperate need of a filter and it would starve the engine of oil momentarily after startup and would knock pretty bad, sounded like a top end/lifter knock though. Not like the bootom end knock you described

I'm doing my plenum this week. I'll see if that will help. I didn't think it would be though because it quits when it's warm. Or at least it's not as loud. Made me think it could be oil starvation when it's cold. I'll change the oil and replace the filter. It's probably due anyway.

Not a ticking noise is it? Sometimes exhaust manifolds will leak/leak worse when cold and then quiet down when the engine heats up.
