Exclamation Fan shroud removal

Hey guys im bored at work and am thinking about taking out my fan shroud and painting it with some krylon plactic paint. everything else under my hood is painted or cleaned and it really stands out. When i installed it after my accident i mounted it to the radiator and put the whole thing in as one. I dont want to do that this time. Can i remove just the shroud without the rad.? it looks like it might not clear the fan and it dont look like i can split in half like i thought. anyone ever done this? I painted my inner fender wells with the same paint it looks and works great. just wiped the plastic down with mek first but Iso works too.

I wouldn't paint it. It will chip and look like garbage.

Like above, all you need to do is take off the clutch fan, unbolt the shroud, and pull the shroud and fan out as one.

Keep in mind the clutch fan while simple in theory could be a PIA to remove without the proper tools.

sounds like i will leave it in place remove the bottles and clean/ paint it in place. The fusion paint for plastic bonds very well if you prep the surface with a scuff pad and a chem like MEK it makes a big differance.

If you are going to paint it, take it out to do it. Makes getting around it MUCH easier, you don't get overspray on anything, and it will be a much better looking job. At least, for a while.

All you need is a strap wrench and a fan removal tool (which is just a big crescent wrench that fits around the fan shaft).

about 20 dollars worth of tools. Strap wrench doubles as a good oil filter wrench.
