Suspension Question
Hey guys first post here.. Ive got a dodge ram 1500 with chevy hd axels so the ride is pretty stiff. Im tryin to get the suspension to soften up some. What would be the best solution to my problem like what kind of shocks or can i get new coils?? Im 17 and this is my first vehicle soo bare with me..

If you have the heavy duty springs in there, to go with the axles..... that is where your rough ride comes from. You could try swapping out the front springs, for the half ton versions, but, you will lose a bit of lift, it'll ride a bit better though.
For the rear, could try pulling out one of the leaves...... again, you will lose some lift, but, it will ride a bit softer.
Or..... I found that my truck rides a LOT better with a couple thousand pounds of dirt in the bed....... plays hell with the fuel economy though.

I dont want to lose any lift. I want to keep the coils and the rear leaves. So even if i got rancho re9000xl shocks and put the setting on 1, because of the heavy duty coils it would still not soften up the ride? Thnks HeyYou
Springs control how stiff the ride is, much more so than shocks. Shocks just control how 'bouncy' the ride is. On my 2500, I know my shocks are toast..... and it still rides like a friggin' buckboard. I am intimately familiar with each and every pebble in the road around here.
Check your tire pressures as well. If you have high load range tires, at maximum inflation, they WILL give your kidneys something to think about.
