2500 tranny/ transfer?
Just wondering what tranny and t-case is ran in a 2500 gasser? I need to upgrade my offroad truck with a little more beef, want to check my options. Hopefully just the t-case.
And, IIRC even the 46re's are different. IF it's 96 or 97 they might be the same, but they change in 98 for sure. IF your wanting to upgrade the Transfer Case in the 2500, it already has a 241HD. IF,IF,IF,IF! LOL A little more info would be nice.
My truck is a '95 1500, I am running axles from a '97 3/4. My original was a 231d which I busted the housing manuf date '94. Picked up a 231d manuf. date of '96, input shaft is too short.
If the 2500 gasser is a 241, will it bolt to my 1500 tranny? Were the trannies the same for a 1500 and 2500?

They are not the same. An RH will not work in place of an RE for instance (as you know HeyYou). Not just because of the OBD1 and OBD2 factor. But one or the other has a shorter shaft. The tranny is the same for 1500 and 2500 as long as they are from within the same years. (94 -95) (96-97 is sketchy) (98-01). I've seen people on here trying to put a 96 in a 97 and the harness is different for example.
