It is either press fit, or floating pin.... I don't know which. If it is press fit, you need to be able to, oddly enough.... press the old one out, and press the new one in. Just using a hammer and a dowel is NOT a good plan.
If it is floating pin, there will be be snap rings inside the bore that it goes thru, just pop one out, and the pin should slide out. (not necessarily easily, but, shouldn't require tools to get it out, aside from snap ring pliers....)
Is there ANY flavor of machine shop around you? Even a tool and die shop should be able to manage it for you.
