Default Electrical and Modification questions

I have recently become the owner of a '96 Ram SLT and have discovered a few things I would like to fix/do to the truck. First off, the sound system seems to have a short. With the stereo on, whenever I open the door, press the brake pedal, turn the fan- A/C speed ****, I get feedback through the speakers. I have checked the wiring for the stereo (aftermarket) and it all looks fine. Any ideas as to what else the culprit could be?

Modification question: My Ram is an SLT trim package and I am wondering if the exterior trim from a Sport model will bolt up. Namely; mirrors, grill and front bumper and where might I find them easily... I know most salvage yards tend not to carry anything this old.

Your help is appreciated!

Make sure your grounds are good. They can make funny things happen

I get feedback in my Camaro if one particular spark plug wire is laying in a certain position. Check your spark plug wires for cracks or being melted.
Also pull the radio and make sure you don't have any exposed wires and make sure the antennae wire isn't damaged and touching the frame of the dashboard. You can get a good look at the antennae wire if you pull the glove box out.

Is there any difference between bumpers on the 96, between sport, and non-sport bumpers? Grill is just body color, and I think the mirrors are exactly the same as well. Or, do you want to get power mirrors??

On the stereo, grounds are likely the issue. What you could do, is ground the stereo elsewhere......

LOL! Chevy's attempt to compete with a Stang back in the 60's.

Well the plug wires are a couple years old and they're out of a Ford.
