Coolant leak help

But you're 90% of the way there if the back of the block is exposed, which is a helluva lot closer than 0% if you leave it until later.

Default Results

Hey Everyone, thanks for the advise. I took it to the shop, they pulled the tranny, and the 2 freeze plugs behind there were leaking. They replaced them and put it all back together, and no leaks!

What would you all say is a good price for that? I was trying to determine what would be since there is not really much of any part cost, but a big amount of labor.

labor rates vary a lot, anywhere from $25-150 per hour, with an average of lets see $50-75 for small-med shops and 100+ at the stealer.

i'm just guessing, but its probably a 3-4 hour job.

The standard labor for a transmission R&R is six hours. I don't know what it might be for the freeze plugs, but it should be a drop in the bucket compared to the trans removal/replacement.

hello i was wondering if there was a site were i would be able to go on that will show me pitcures of the freeze plugs location on the passanger side of a 2001 doge ram 1500 318 engine .. of even both sides thanks Lise

There is a link for a manual in the DIY section, including parts list with drawings showing where plugs are located.

I had 3 of them replaced when my new trans was installed...they tacked on another $50 per freeze plug onto the bill

Holy smokes Batman! So, they made another 150 bucks, for about 10 minutes work.....
