Default HELP! Shifter tube is loose in steering column tube

I have a 1997 4x4 with 85k. It does not have a loose sloppy steering shaft bushing. It does have a loose shifter tube slapping inside the steering column tube. There are supposed to be some type of locator tabs inside but no knows about them as they are not replaceble. Steering columns get replaced or get new shaft bushings. This truck was in a collision with a pole, frame was pulled and complete front clip replaced. Now insurance says it is typical Ram steering slop. It was not that way before the accident.
Does anyone have information on what is between the shifter column tube and the outer steering column housing ??

Replacing the column might be your best bet. Even looking thru the FSM, I can't find a good exploded view of the column. Might go to your local dodge dealer, and see if their parts guide doesn't have a better picture.

I second replacing the column as parts stores won't have the pieces you need and the dealer will charge you too much for them.

No replaceable parts except for bushing. Bought a column from 190k mile vehicle and it's not as sloppy/loose.

Yea, had to replace the one on my 98. The shift tube broke inside, no parts, only the whole thing.
