Default Trans temp question

I had a question for all you DF'ers and MF'ers...jk. I do have a quick trans temp question though. So I have a little over 4k miles on my tranny I rebuilt and for those 4k miles, my temp never rose above 150 degrees. It'd usually stay about 125 degrees. For the past 100 miles, my trans has no problem getting to and staying at 160 degrees. That's a 35 degree difference. I know from Monte C that average temp should be between 160-200 degree (167 being ideal). My truck shifts smooth as always and I don't feel or see any problems and the fuild smells fine. So guys, should I be worried? I hope I explained it well.

i think that as now you've had a chance to break the tranny in, it is now running closer to spec temps (as provided by Monte C)...shouldn't have anything to worry about here, but i would keep a close eye on it for at least the next five hundred miles

mine peaks at about 150, but I am going to be testing it out this weekend as I am going 200 miles to go fishing. In the heat of the day, driving in the city it never gets over 149. ANd this is a stock truck/tranny with 50K.

However, i have the auxiliary tranny cooler and a +2.5 qt deep tranny pan with cooling tubes (derale, 129 at summitt). ANd a 180* thermostat. Also, the temp gauge is in the pan, not on the line. So mine is probably 10-20* hotter on the line.

I think you are fine. just watch it. I would say that no matter what. I watch mine and i have had no problems.

that's what I'm thinking. Since this was my first tranny rebuild, I'm overly sensitive to these things. Always appreciate the input fella's.

i installed the sender for my electronic tranny gauge right before the return line enters the tranny. its 30* outside and i got it to peak at about 110* stopping and starting around the neighborhood, but doing about 60 mph in overdrive it steadied at around 92*, does this sound right?

Worrying about trans temps in the winter is not overly beneficial, unless you suspect something very wrong. Heat kills transmissions. I would be most concerned with the heat of the fluid as it leaves the trans and as it enters in the dead of summer, not the winter. Repost temps in about 7 months, and we can discuss potential problems.

That sounds just about perfect. Those temps are just about where my trans stays.
