Default nvm bout the idleing...

I just went out and added more water and started it and let her run for about 10 minutes then checked the oil and just when I thought my luck couldnt get any worse I found a chocolate milk type color on the dipstick. The reason I said get a new motor to start fresh with was because I got the truck used and have been driving it for about 6 months. Idk what has and hasnt been done to it in the past.

Ideling High is hardly a reason to get a new motor.

Now if you shot a piston out the side of the block or something.....

If that's what a blown plenum looks like, then mine is as well. Mine looks exactly like those pictures. And I got 237k on mine, so its very possible.

1.)
running temp stays about 190-215. And every once in a while... (3-4 times per day) it will slowly over about 10 seconds climb up to about 240 for about 20 seconds and slowly come back down to 215 the same way. Not sudden to imply temp sensor but slow implying air pocket in cooling system. radiator and over flow both full. I used a 160 t-stat (being changed to 180 or 195 soon but don't know which one.)

2.)
oil preasure bottoms out during idle. (no knocks or ticks) just drops to 0 and then tries to come back up and then drops again. over and over and over.

Replace your thermostat, then burp the system REALLY thoroughly. That should stabilize temp.

Replace your oil pressure sending unit. Those are sure signs of a failed sender. Especially if, at idle, when it is doing its dance, if you just barely crack the throttle open, it reads pressure, and is stable.

Thats the piece that screws in on the top in the back next to the distributor right?

The guy I bought it from pulled up from getting that when I bought the truck. Its been replaced already. Even though its on top and pointing down... could sludge still stop it up? Getting the hughes plenum plate fix and another OPSU and if that doesnt fix it im gonna drop the oil pan and check the screen and p/u tube. (while heads were off I poured gasoline down the block and let drain over night then filled with fresh oil before assembly) I wont be able to do that for a couple of weeks. Besides having to do another tune up to get rid of possible oil coated plugs should I have to do anything else?
