i tried to heat the joints with a propane torch, do i have to replace em now or are they still good? i bought emery cloth but your saying a green 3m scrubby is better?.
the bushing pressed into the outer shaft was worn, could that have caused the leak?
and shuld i try to replace the output shaft bearing with the bushing quad 4x4 gave me?

since you have the new large bushing, i would replace the old bearing or bushing. just pull the old one out into the cad cavity, and tap the new one in.
the fork is held on the cad shaft by E-clips. gently pop them off them off, and then the shaft will slide out. NOTE the orientation of the curve in the fork BEFORE you remove it.

He's getting deeper and deeper for no good reason(at least not that we know of). Which is why I asked why he's replacing the fork.The shoes/pads on the end of the fork can be replaced. And although this place is great, a little more research and maybe a manual purchase or download on his part, would have proved more than beneficial for a job like this. Just sayin'

got the u joint replaced my brother showed me that there were clips on the inside holding it in. so no problems really man. i just dont know why i got a plastic bushing for the output shaft instead of a metal bearing? hes closed today so i cant ask him. the bearing seems to be in there pretty tight, and play of the output shaft is minimal if there is any at all. what do you guys suggest about that?

older years had the bearing. newer years had the bushing.
they are interchangeable.
i'm not sure what i would do without looking and feeling of it.
i'd probably try to measure the play in the bearing, and then remove the inner shaft a test fit the new bushing over it, and compare the fit.
then i'd go with whichever one had the tighter fit.
