I don't want to have it shift in and out of overdrive on the highway when going up an incline. After I do the lift I want to see how bad my tires look on it and then decide if I need or want to go bigger. I am thinking they are going to look too small for that lift. I can't find any good information on what is exactly needed to do the gear change on our trucks. I found some posts of people doing the change but none with enough information to answer my questions on what all needs to be purchased.

The gears themselves, and master install kits.

If you are going from the 3.55s, to 4.56s.... You will either need to get the 'thick' gears, or, replace the carriers as well. I don't recall if 4.10s will fit on the stock carrier.

You can follow this link and you will see what you need for parts and how much. Basically you need master install kits for the front and back,R&P, maybe a front Carrier
Dana 44 Carrier Breaks: 3.73-lower, 3.92-higher

Dont stress, your gears should be fine if running 33" tires. All I have is a 2.5 Spacer on the springs and 37 BFG Muds on the stock wheels and can pull and go offroading up the dunes on High with no sweat. But then again, I have the Offroad edition truck. 4.10+ gears are overkill!

When I bought the truck it had them, with a coil spacer lift. I took the lift off, sold the tires and threw on some normal sized tires. I'm not playing with the truck, no need for all terrains. They were ****ty BFG's anyways.

Where can I find the master install kit? I didn't see it at the link you gave me. Also what do you mean by carrier breaks? I am unfamiliar with this type of work. Thanks.

Gear's aren't something you do yourself if you don't know what you're doing. Get it done, or prepare to throw money at it again later.

I am not going to be the one installing them. I have a friend that does pretty much anything that can be done to a vehicle. He is going to install them for me if I need to do it. I would never think of doing it myself. I am sure to screw it up.

Haha no worries. Almost everywhere that sells gears sells the required kit, usually included if you the "package" deal.

Ok as for what the Carrier breaks means you need a different carrier for the different ratios for that diff
so for the

dana 44

Carrier Breaks: for gears 2.72, 3.07, 3.31, 3.54, 3.73,=lower (all fit this carrier)

for gears 3.91, 4.09, 4.27, 4.56, 4.88, 5.13=higher (all fit this carrier)

For the dodge 91/4 all gear ratios fit the same carrier

Dodge/Chrysler 9.25 Rear Bearing Kit Bearing Kits New $175.00 $17.99
