You are aware that since you have the Offroad edition, chances are real good you have 4:10's.

Carrier Breaks: for gears 2.72, 3.07, 3.31, 3.54, 3.73,=lower (all fit this carrier)

for gears 3.91, 4.09, 4.27, 4.56, 4.88, 5.13=higher (all fit this carrier)

For the dodge 91/4 all gear ratios fit the same carrier

Included in this kit are carrier bearings and races, pinion bearings and races, pinion seal, complete master shim kit, ring gear bolts, pinion nut, crush sleave, thread locking compound,
^^^^^^^^so what your saying I need different gearssets for the front than I do for the rear? I'm not following what the lower and higher breaks mean.

Different ratios require different size carriers. You want the SAME gear ratio front and rear, no matter which way you go. If you stayed with a 3.73, or numerically lower gear ratio, you would not have to worry about changing the front carrier. If you go 3.91 or higher, then you either need to get 'thick' gears, which fit the stock carrier, or, you need to buy a carrier that the gears will fit. Seems that you can do any ratio in the rear, and not worry about swapping the carrier....

Figure out what gears you want, to match your tire size, and then get parts according to that.

Carrier break is basically what size gears will fit on your carrier. Right now you have the 3.73 and down carrier so you can put any gears on that carrier that are numerically lower than 3.73 (meaning 3.55).
The other side of the break is 3.92 and higher, meaning that you can put 3.92, 4.10, 4.56 or 4.88 gears on that carrier.
You can't put 4.10 gears on a 3.73 and lower carrier unless you get a thick cut gear.

You need regular gears for the back and "thick" gears for the front, if you don't want to spend the money on a new carrier "break". (which btw is the same thing as simply calling it the carrier) Just technical jargon. Check out this site http://www.ringpinion.com/

Ok no problem I'll try to explain it better. So if you are going to change the rear diff to 4:10 then yes the front must be done as well, Both diff's must have the same ratio this is a must!

For the carrier break point: from 2.72-3.73 take one model of carrier and 3.91- 5.38 take a different one, So if you have 3:55 gears and want to go to 4:10 you will need a different carrier for the dana 44. for the dodge 9 1/4 the carrier has no braking point you can use it for all gear ratios.

Hope this helps

Oh yea I am aware, thats why I said "Then again I have the offroad edition" But since the truck does'nt break a sweat with 37" and factory 4.10's I am pretty sure he wont with 33" and possibly 33.5 (305's)
