i brought the muffler (super 44) and tips (4" x 12") to a shop and they pulled off the old setup, bent the pipes and install for $100. it has a really good tone and its loud, but id like it a bit louder. high flow cat or headers would probably help that

Thanks for all the information. I was checking out your photobucket album and your truck looks great. I just got the truck recently and I have a lot of plans. I guess one of them is going to be the plenum fix. The kegger mod I am not comfortable with. I was thinking about Hughes F1 intake.

Pop your hood there is a tag on the underside of the hood that should tell you the gears if you cant read it, then you can look on the diff cover to see if the metal tag is still there if you strike out on both of those jack the truck up and spin a tire and coun the rotation ratio to the drive shaft, its gonna be either 3.55, 3.92, or 4.10

Most likely it will be 3.55's, with a 2in or 2.5 leveling kit, you can fit 285/75/16's with no problems

My truck is a 1997 1500 4x4 with the 5.2 and 187000 miles, i have 285/75/16's on it with no lift and no mods to the engine, and i cant feel any power loss from when i used to have 265/75/16.

Maybe it's just the tiny pic of your truck, but from what I can see, it looks like it has a leveling kit in it.

Doesnt really matter if you have no lift EHS22......jedi only has a 2wd and were a tad bit lower than a stock 4x4 so he will most likely rub with 285/75/16's, with stock height I rubbed the plastic inner fenders just a little bit on flat ground when turning, you could melt them out a bit and gain the needed space but the second you flex you will be rubbing again

Jedi if I were you I would pick up a 2in spacer from daystar and the truck would be level and you wont have to worry

Yea, I used a 1.5" Daystar spacer and still fit 285's with no rubbing at full lock both ways. Not sure if MT's would, but my AT's don't at all

OK, I have another question regarding gears and bigger tires. Is there anyway to recalibrate the speedometer and the computer so it displays the correct speed and shifts correctly with the new tires and gears? Being that I have a 1996, tuners are slim pickings and the SCT doesn't do tie size calibration that I know of.
