Anything I can adjust(shift wise)
This last winter I had an issue with my heater, it was the heater core. Ever since that time my dash was out my trans started slipping. Sometimes to the point it would slip so bad I could'nt make it up a hill. Anything I could adjust before replacing my trans.
Thing that gets me is it ONLY started doing that after they were messing around with the truck. Im stumped. Pretty hard to adjust the bands? Also found a rebuild trans with a transgo in it for 600 that caught my eye(last resort)
Probably just a coincidence. You can download the factory service manual from the FAQ section here, and the procedure is outlined in there. There might even be a DIY in that section........ Give it a shot, worst that can happen is it won't help. And a trans for 600 bucks is a steal if it works good.
Only external adjustment I am aware of is the TV cable. And that just changes shift POINTS. It might firm up the shifts a bit, but, that is only a product of the trans thinking you are pushing the go pedal harder...... Not sure if the band adjusters are external or not.....
One adjuster is, one is not.
Its possible they jacked up the TV cable. Read the FSM on how to adjust it. Too far out can cause really soft shifts and "might" cause a slipping issue as it affects line pressure. Move it back about an 1/8" and see if it corrects the issue.
