New guy with problems
I am replacing my son's 1998 5.2 motor with a 1995 5.2 motor. The 95 motor came with an egr valve. Do I have to remove the egr valve or can I just plug the vacuum lines on it. I already have the motor in the truck. It starts right up but runs rough and not knowing much about what I am doing I am wondering if that is the trouble. Thanks for any help you can give

Thanks for taking time to place this in the correct place
Hey You
Will start Swapping the whole intake manifold over, and all sensors/injectors/etc.
And let ya'll know how I make out.
The distributor I read is also different for timing. I use to use a time light.
I will learn as I go
Thank you for your help

Do NOT remove the distributor!!!!!!! And order one of these to install while the intake is off http://www.hughesengines.com/Index/p...2&partid=26190
Do a search here for "plenum".

Update finished putting the motor in 2 days ago after changing out everything. But cannot find a slight miss .Why are u not suppose top pull the distributor. I do not know if it was removed and set back in before I bought the motor. I followed the information on setting #1 plug and the 0-5/5-0 window for the injectors and the darn thing starts right away but with a slight miss.
If anyone has an idea, please let me know. I don't know much about these engines for timing
thanks

Welcome to DF stick around there is alot of great info on here and some really great guy's.
Your wires might be causing a cross fire and your miss. Check this thread https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...bulletins.html and use high quality wires and looms.

if 0-5/5-0 means setting fuel sync, then i'm a dummy.

Did that . I had run the coil wire along side of the plug wires. So I moved it up above the valve cover in the valley. I have now corrected that. Thank you

hehe! You are not a dummy. Yes it is for the fuel sync. This is what I found while I was trying to figure out how to use my timing light on this motor. You can't! You have to use a voltage meter and this is what it said (The transition happens every 360 degrees of crank rotation, which computes to 180 degrees of distributor rotation... a half turn. Since what we're looking for is the transition point, it might be 0-5v or 5-0v) I just messed it up when typing it. I am going to go over everything again and see what happens. thank you for your help.
If any other suggestions for running rough or an easier way to set the distributor would be great. I really wish I knew more about this type of timing.
Again thanks for everyone's help. If any ideas come up let me know as it is still running rough

It's easy, there is not much to know, besides the fact , that the PCM controls engine timing according to what the various sensors are telling it. Same goes for the fuel sync. Which is why the distributor goes in one position. It's all PCM and sensor info.
