Bad valve seals or blown plenum gasket.

srry about the punction, i didnt replace the valve seals i meent 2 days ago it started smoking and i assumed it was because the lifter were collapsed. But now i fixed that and it still smokes thats why i was asking if the valve stem seals could go bad that fast.

The lifters have nothing to do with why it smokes! What color is the smoke?

like a whiteish blue and smells like oil but the color of the smoke looks like burning anifreeze but the plugs are all a dark color and top of the pistons have a slight coat of oil,not washed clean like they normally do when a head gaskets blown ya know.

so is this the story ?

up until a few days ago everything was normal. no tapping, no smoke.
then suddenly, you have tapping and smoking.
you pulled the valve covers and intake, and replace both the lifters and pushrods on #8 and the plenum gasket. nothing else, and put it back together.
the tapping is now gone.
but its still smoking.

just thinking out loud. oil in the cylinder would have to come from leaking headgasket, leaking plenum, rings, valve seals and/or valve guides or cracked head into an oil space.

so what lead up to the problem? normal driving or high rpm or what?
it seems odd to me that 2 lifters would suddenly fail.
fess up to the whole story so we can figure it out.

i was up on and old stripping road going to pull a buddy out of a mud hole, and when i got there it was tapping. So some1 else came and pulled him out cause i wasnt gonna beat my truck with it tapping, and by the time i got home it was smoking . I ripped the intake back off it today and everything looked okay, and i inspected everything real good and nothing looked abnormal. i have true duals so id have to blow both head gaskets for both sides to smoke correct? Even if my compression is good could it still b smoking from the rings? this thing smokes bad wiorse then anything ive ever seen.
