I doubt that sensor is the problem(I could be wrong), but, whatever! How did "your mechanic" check the lower intake gasket?

I rev it to 3k and he listened for the ping noise and he said it's running way to good. He said he knows for a fact that the cat is clean but the oxygen sensor is bad and if I don't fix it soon it will plug my cat.

Zman. Easy the mechanic is my dad. I found online someone said you would hear a ping. He was doing what I told him. He is an ASE. He wanted me to ask you if he could hook a vacuum gauge on the little port sticking out of the plenum that has a plug on it. I found it on the plenum on the driver side in the middle.

There is a TSB in the FAQ section for diagnosing this particular little issue, using a vacuum gauge. have a look at that, but, keep in mind, that test has been known to give false negatives. The BEST way to diagnose it, is to yank the throttle body, and physically look around inside the manifold.

Okay guys ill do that tomorrow. Also on the driver side of the engine there is a gold looking deal on my valve cover but there is no hose going to it. It has a place to hook a hose but there is no hose. Also on the air cleaner there is a hose barb Comming off of it but there is also no hose. Do this connect together? Would this be the cause of my problem? Just wondering.

Does anyone have a part number for the hose that is suppose to be connected to my valve cover to my air cleaner? Also, if my plenum gasket is bad (which I think it is thanks to zman17) where do I get one that won't blow? I thought I saw a post on it saying the new gasket is metal?

OK well, you don't have to find a new dad That hose can be found at the JY or dealer. Also fuel hose of the right diameter will work fine. As far as the plenum goes, it's the whole plate on the bottom of the intake that gets replaced. Go to Hughes Engines or APS.

Zman17! I took my TB off and low and behold in the back corner there is a pool of black oil. Dam your good man! So replace it with a metal gasket? Could you provide me a link so I know for sure I'm ordering the right thing? Also anything else that you can think of that I will need? Zman17 YOU ARE THE MAN!
