I have a 1/2" drop base when I use my 14x3" K&N filter.
Always use a gasket ontop of the tb.
Must use an S bolt

Heard of others using a 1/2" spacer under a 1" drop base.

You have a 5 speed , so it might not be as noticeable, but with a stock motor, you will lose some bottom end. But, if you have your heart set on it, here you go. https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...-assembly.html

The s bolt I bent was 4.5" long with a 3/4" offset. I used a bench vise to bend mine. I am either going back to stock or going to a CAI because I noticed the difference in my bottom end power.

Are you guys that have lost some bottom end using a K&N 14x3"(E1650) or another filter?

I'm using the Eldebrock filter that came with the 14x3.

When I put the 14x3 on my 98, I used a K&N and a Wix, and the one it came with. I lost bottom end with all 3 filters. That, and along with the fact, I couldn't stand the sucking noise, is why I ditched it.

I'm confused how higher flowing filter reduces bottom end other than the fact I suppose it's sucking in hotter air at low speeds.
