Newb towing question

18' boat no problem, not even close to what the truck can tow, my truck used to tow a 26' boat with no problems, no trailer brakes either, and can easily tow the 23' foot boat in the yard.

your looking at maybe 4000 pounds

A few years ago, when we bought a used F150 with the 4.2L, the salesman was telling me how an automatic could tow more than a standard. I laughed at him and told him he was full of BS. He didn't like that.

Friend of mine with a 97 1500 4x4, with a 5.9, pulls an 8800 pound fifth wheel camper behind his. Trailer has electric brakes, which helps.....

Keep in mind, he DID end up rebuilding his trans recently.....
