rpms jumping?

My Jeep did this, a new ($30) TPS fixed it.

my truck did the same thing and the tps was bad

not to be a dumba**, but what is a tps? And where can i find it on the truck? not very good with all this electronic stuff.

Throttle Position Sensor. It's opposite the accelerator lever on the throttle body.

Well, i replaced the tps tonight and the first thing i noticed was it started easier. I don't know if that had anything to do with it, but it seems to be running better than i've ever seen it for the 2 weeks that i've had it. No more rpm's jumping up and down. Thanks all, much appriciated!
