Lightbulb Axle issue....

my hub spun and snapped at the welds and as lm looking into it l believe l may need to retube it does any one have any idea on how much that would be?

and if all else fails lm gonna just put a new axle under her, what axle could l go with other than a dana 60 in the front? Because if l re-gear/ put a diff axle l can go up to 35's instead of 33's and im not trying to kill my wallet to much..

dana 60 come in 8 lugs so you;d need new rims, and change rear end

get a complete axle though, shafts alone are 250$ new, go to http://car-part.com and find your axle

What hub? The hub bearing? How is that going to effect the axle tube? I think a little more info is in order here.

What snapped? What hub assembly? The hub bearing doesn't have any welds. Was it the knuckle? What about the outer axle tube beyond the CAD assembly?

Sorry for the questions, but this is an odd one. We're going to need specifics and details here so we can accurately help you.

I think he is saying his knuckle separated from the axle tube..... if that is indeed the case, replacing the whole axle with something from the junkyard is certainly the cheapest alternative......

The knuckle is connected to the axle housing with ball joints. Just replace it.

I just re-read and then re-re-read green's post and it sounds like the hub spun where the axle-side of the knuckle is welded to the axle tube. If that's the case, DAMN! Never heard of that happening before.

If that is the case, then he probably does need to retube as I'm pretty sure SOMETHING got FUBR if it happened at 50MPH.

Yikes.

Go for a complete junk yard axle. Replace the balljoints, axle seals, CAD gasket, inspect the gears, and install.

I'm sure there's things I've forgotten but those who are much smarter and more experienced than I should be around shortly.
