what gears should i run with 38" tires???

From what Ive seen they run anywhere from $500-$700 per axle, plus the gear change. I am pretty sure there is a DIY in the FAQ section for axle swap.

see its mainly going to be a daily driver from my house to school like 10 miles or so but i am not really going to beat it up like in mud or off roading its mainly just high way miles but i think i am keep the dana 44's and run 4.88 gears front and rear and call it good. wont i have to use thick ring and pinion in the front?

"I am not really going to beat it up like in mud or off roading its mainly just high way miles", If you live by this you should be fine, The thick cut gears is one way to go, there is a debate as to whether they are as strong as reg cut gears but like you said, you aren't going to bet on this truck so go with the thick cut gears. It's to bad you are that far away I have a new lsd that I will not be using sitting on my self for a dana 44.

lsd whats that? is that like limited slip?

Yes that's right.

here's the def for lsd:

LSD: The most well-known of which is the clutch-type LSD. With this differential, the side gears are coupled to the carrier via a multi-disc clutch which allows extra torque to be sent to the wheel with high resistance than available at the other driven road wheel when the limit of friction is reached at that other wheel. Below the limit of friction more torque goes to the slower (inside) wheel. If there is no load on one wheel then no torque goes to the other so the LSD provides no torque except for spring loading

The 94-97 read from the trans. (or transfer case) That sensor is not present on 98 and newer trucks. They read from the diff. (or somewhere post 97....)

94 and 95 are OBDI as well. Major differences there.

yukon definitely makes a 4.88 thick gear for the dana44,it's a Thick gear...go Timken on your wheel bearings an you will be fine!!! Plus if your worries about strength they make axel trusses for the dana 44
