Tranny noise
My tranny is making a noise sounds like a fan shroud rubbing. It only does it in reverse and only when it's cold outside. usually around 45 or colder (not specific) it does it only when I first back out of the drive later after running it doesn't do it. the drive has a very slight decline towards the front of the truck. Any ideas? I thought it might be the torque conv spinning before it fills with fluid but wouldn't it do this year round?
Don't tell me I stumped the all knowing 2nd gen guys? HAHA
I appreciate any suggestions if I'm not explaining clear enough
let me know I'll even take guesses (educated ones that is)
thanks guys

Is this something that occurs when its cool outside?
I'll try it in the morning but it doesn't happen when I start it only when I put it in reverse does this make a difference in your assumptions as to the problem? If it does make a difference what would it point to as the issue? The flex plate as previously mentioned by 95Ram360?
Thanks guys

Since my last post I have tried it a few times when I remember to shift to neutral prior to starting it seems this stops the noise. What would this indicate? Flex Plate?
Possibly. Pull the inspection cover (requires dropping the starter, and the two braces from engine to trans...) and have a look at it. Might be cracked up.

I'll take a look may be a few days no days off for a while thanks. Plus never pulled this starter is it a bee-otch???
If you or some previous owner eliminated the anti-drainback check valve from the transmission cooler line at the radiator, then the noise is the torque converter running less than full. And it's not something you want to continue doing if you like your torque converter -- so always run the truck in neutral for at least ten seconds before going for a gear so the converter has time to fill.
Another option would be to install a remote transmission filter, because it'll provide the anti-drainback valve.
