Hi everyone I have a 1998 3500 with a V10 gas engine. In the last 3 months the engine has started to throw a white smoke out of the exhaust when you start it up and after going to idle at a stop light it smokes again taking off. Also I have lots of back pressure pushing my oil dipstick almost completely out. I have changed the O2 sensors and the checkvalves but no luck. My local dealer is no help and cant even show me any diagrams of the vacuum sytem on it. I would love any thoughts you would have on what to do next.

White smoke is water, or coolant..... Have someone else start the truck for you some morning, and take a whiff of the smoke, if it has a sweet odor, burns your eyes BAD (careful where you put your face....) then it is coolant. If it just smells like exhaust, probably just condensation, or, water in your gas.
If you are getting that much pressure in the crankcase...... something is seriously awry. Need to check the PCV system, and make sure it is working. There will be a valve, with a tube running to the intake on one side, and a 'vent' of some sort, on the other side of the truck, with a tube running to somewhere on the intake tract, after the air filter. I would highly recommend doing a compression check on the motor. (which, on the V-10, is an exercise.
