Default Front end parts help

Hey all,

The time has come to replace most front end suspension (drag link, tie rods, etc). Can I use 2500 or 3500 parts without swapping axles? OR, what brands should I look for? Also, I might look into doing a Dana 40 swap up front and a leaf sprung setup. I might also have to do wheel bearings also.

I have seen kits on Ebay, but they dont have a brand listed, which makes me leary. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Should I do a little longer shocks on the front with my 2" leveling kit? What brand of shocks is sufficient...I dont go offroading.

Thanks!

Don't get ebay parts. Almost all of them come from China...and we all know they use REAL cheap metals.

Erm, don't you already HAVE a Dana 44 up front? I would think a "40", (unless that is a typo) would be weaker than what you have. (if they even make one?) Or were you considering doing a Dana 60 up front? If that is the case, bear in mind, they are eight lug...... If you can find a 3/4 or one ton truck that has all the suspension parts there, including driveshafts, and transfer case........ grab it all.

Seems I have heard of folks 'upgrading' their steering to the 3/4 or 1 ton setups. Not sure what all it involves though...... Might be some issues with steering stabilizer mounting though. Not sure.

Don't use generic parts for something as important as your steering. Yes, steering parts are NOT cheap, but, the idea is, buy high quality parts, and don't replace them as often. (or have them break at inopportune moments....) and you will actually SAVE money. Look for parts that offer lifetime replacement warranty. (although, even that is no guarantee of quality.....) Buy locally. That way, when you need to replace them, you can just go visit the shop you get them from.
