Default XRF Parts List for 2WD (Ball Joints, Tie-rod Ends, Idler, Pitman, A-arm Bushings, etc

Hi,

I received the following from XRF since thetireclub.com didn't list all of these on their site for the 2WD trucks:

Upper B/Jnt. K7206T $45.00ea. (qty 2)
Lower B/Jnt. K7271 $45.00ea. (qty 2)
Inner T/Rod ES3171RLT $43.00ea. (qty 2)
Outer T/Rod ES3172RLT $40.00ea. (qty 2)
Pitman Arm K7239 $55.00 (qty 1)
Idler Arm K7217T $47.00 (qty 1)
Upper C/A Bsh. K7276 $14.00ea. (qty 2; comes as a kit of 2)
Lower C/A Bsh K7277 $25.00ea. (qty 2; comes as a kit of 2)
Sway Bar Link K7275 $13.00ea. (qty 2; oughta come as a kit of 2 but doesn't)

I added the quantities above and am confirming with XRF and thetireclub.com.

This list doesn't include the sway bar bushings, so I may look for a different urethane kit that does the complete bar including the end links.

Anyone have any estimates of what it would take to get a shop to install all of that? If I need to take the arms in to have the ball joints pressed in, I may be willing to pay to have them just do it all. Otherwise I know what I am doing next weekend

You can save some money by doing the removal yourself, taking in the control arms, have the balljoints/bushing installed, and then putting them back on the truck yourself.

R&R is several hours labor PER SIDE in and of itself... so, multiply that by the labor rate in your area, and that is how much money you WON'T be spending.... Make sure there is a shop open on the weekend that will do it for you......

Or, you can rent the tools for the balljoints, and do those yourself..... Bushings are a bit more fun...... but, you might be able to manage those yourself as well, if you have some manner of press, and a torch handy.....

Thanks Hey You. I will hopefully have all the parts here in time to work off the Thanksgiving turkey and pumpkin pie the weekend after next. I am calling around to see if any shops will be open that Friday or Saturday to get the new parts pressed into the control arms.

I ended up ordering Prothane urethane bushings instead of the XRF ones.

The Prothane part numbers are: 4-211 (4WD) or 4-210 (2WD). About $69 and $50, respectively.

Energy Suspension is another option, part numbers: 5.3120 (4WD 94 - 98), 5.3131 (4WD 99-01), 5.3124 (2WD).

Since Energy shows 2 different kits for different model years of the 2nd gen 4WD, please check the part numbers for either company (mine is a 2WD so I didn't dig too deeply on the 4WD).

I also ordered the Prothane anti-sway bar bushing kit: 4-1103. That is for the 32mm bar (1-1/4") on my V6 2WD. I paid about $15 for the anti-sway bar kit.

I suspect that the bar on the V8, V10, and/or 4WD may be larger. Prothane lists several kits for the anti-sway bar at 30, 32, and 34 mm. Not sure which model would have been fitted with the 30mm bar if not the V6 2WD truck. My guess would be the V8/10s would have the larger bar, but measure yours to make sure. For the 34mm bar, the art number is: 4-1138.

Update:

The XRF parts all went right in and seem like really nice pieces.

The Prothane control arm bushings did not fit. They ended up being too small in diameter and loose in the arms. I ended up having to buy standard bushings from the local parts store since I didn't want to wait for replacements to be shipped since I had to have it back together for work. And it would have been a crap shoot anyway since I would have had to try the ones from a 4WD truck (mine is 2WD) and those look different and quite possibly would not have worked anyway.

I am not sure if the vendor I purchased from sent the right box with the wrong parts in it, since the part number on the box was correct, or if the part number is just plain wrong. It was eBay so you never know for sure (but if it was a mistake it was likely an honest one since the shop's feedback was about 100% positive).

The anti-sway bar bushings from Prothane did fit and work well.

Wow, I like those prices on the parts. I think I'll definitely upgrade to XRF when I go through my truck.

Yep, the prices were about the same as for Moog or other brands, and from what I have read on the forum here XRF is better quality.

They had a $10 off discount code on top of those prices that someone posted on the forum and free shipping too (not sure if those offers are still good).

Free shipping is still availible. Here's the link: http://www.thetireclub.com/content.w...sis-parts.html
The coupon is still good to. I'll have to look it up though.
Edit: here's the coupon code for $10 of your order. Just type 10.00_OFF! in the coupon code box and you'll get $10 off your entire order plus free shipping. Sorry it took so long.
