Default Need opinions on lift

I need some answers on my pending lift, I have a 99 3/4 ton 360 gas 4x4 that I was wanting to get the 4" coil spacer from Top Gunz and put in my truck and was wondering if by doing so will I have to do other things to the front end other than putting the spacer in?? The company that sells the spacer says nothing about any other modifications needed like drop sway bar brkts, longer trail arms, pitman arm etc. I am asking for your input on this if I will need to do other things along with the spacer, it seems to me that by putting it in that the front end will need other things done to it. I love this forum and figured with all the Dodge owners out there someone will have some good answers. Thanks in advance.............

Do a search on Pavementsucks.com. They are more off-road oriented than this site. Yes you will need a lot more including; control arms, drop pitman arm ect.

I would suspect at the very least, new shocks would be a good plan.... for the half tons, anything over three requires longer control arms, as the 3/4 tons start about two inches higher....... I am unsure if the control arms are longer on the heavier duty trucks.......

Also, if you raise the front four inches, what are you going to do with the rear?

I am planning on a block for the rear. I do not want to screw up the front end by just the spacer, I am a bit disappointed that they would not tell you what else you will need.

Keep in mind, you already HAVE a 4.5, or 5 inch block in the rear. Adding another four incher is going to give the axle some serious leverage on the springs..... you are going to have trouble with wheel hop. Big time. Not to mention that I personally consider stacking blocks a very bad plan....... but, I am not a suspension engineer.... just a wrench monkey.

They would wait until you were halfway thru the install before informing you of 'other suggested parts' for your application. They are in business to sell parts..... Its YOUR responsibility to do the research necessary to do the job right. Which you ARE doing, by posting here.

If you were to do a 4in spacer in the front, my opinion but 4in is a very big spacer to me. But if thats what you did, i would suggest a long arm kit, dick cepek makes one nice kit ive installed a few. The rear comes with a stock 3in block i think it is. But you will need at least a 2in block add in the rear with an add a leaf. Now stacking blocks is not the best way of doing it but can be done just make sure to weld them together. Also with adding a block you need to get one that will match your pinion angle you need. Piecing together your own lift from venders is kinda hard to do and a pain sometimes. In my experiance saving up and buying a kit is the best thing to do unless you want to go crazy on it. If your looking at a nice 4 to 5in kit fab tech makes a great 5.5in kit. You can clear 35's nicely. Hope some of that helps. sorry so long. good luck!
