'00 1500 5.9 Fuel Filter?
So my truck died when trying to take off from a light the other day. I pressed the throttle, it hesitated and just died. It would crank but not turn over, i got a push from a cop to a parking lot, after sitting about 10 mins I got it to start. I know the fuel pump is running (I can hear it kick on when i turn the key to run. It goes for a second or three...) it seems to run fine now though I've yet to brave the open road since the little incident... My question is could it be something as simple as a clogged fuel filter?

The filter/pressure regulator is on top of the fuel pump. Still have to lower tank some to get at it. It can be replaced by purchasing it from the dealer. But, it will cost just as much as a complete aftermarket pump. Some how I don't think it's your problem. The pump needs to be properly tested using a pressure gauge, before spending money on something that might not be broke.

lol welcome to the joys of owning a 10 year old truck!
The cats are known in these things to clog up and rob/kill power completely. Do you get a rotten eggs/sulphur smell at all? That would indicate a bad cat. The good thing, if it IS the cat, is that you could just punch the guts out of it and be good... Mine is like that, and it's been like that since before I bought it 2 years ago. You might even like the sound lol...
