If you go up at all (even a few inches) it will change the alignment and technically should be realigned. Check out the way the steering is set up... as the truck goes up the tires will tow in. Its not much, but enough to warrant an alignment.

And I have to agree, I think what you suggested in your last post would be about the best setup for what he is looking for.

I have a 2wd 1500 1997 i want to do a small lift in the front. Can i find 2500 springs and just swap them out? What all to i have to change to do the springs.

All ya need is the springs, pop the old ones out, put the new ones in, drive it away. Easy.

yup im doing the same thing now....

found a set of deisel coils for $25 pair.....

set of 2500 2.5in leafs....5 leaf set, for $75 each....going to try to get a deal...thats why i love car-part.

i need to do it though, my truck sits 1 3/4 in lower on the drivers side.....very lopsided...but i feel thats because my shackle snapped and sent the leaf into the bottom of my bed, and i drove it home 15 miles that way, i think i stretched the spring....but enough about me.

hey i know this thread has been dead for awhile, but i'm gonna do the front coil swap with diesel coils, and i'm just wondering how long after is it safe to drive before allignment?

ive been driving for over a year with my diesel coils and have yet to get an alignment. i havent had any wierd tire wearing problems either.

if the new coils put your front end so far out of whack that it is unsafe to drive, then youll be able to tell just by looking at it lol.

I put some 2500 rear springs on my 2007 ram 1500 2wd I went to a local junk yard and got some 89 to 98 Chevy 2500 hd leaf springs paid 40 bucks used the Chevy u bolts I installed them with no problems holds up 2000lb bale of hay and a t and s feeder with feed in it and sets pretty decent
