The 318 cam just has more lift than the 360. I don't see why it wouldn't pass its nothing radical. That's a dual plane carb conversion manifold. I put a 318 magnum in my 89 Mazda b2200. I had the heads redone, and put a hughes whiplash can in it. I'm still waiting to get it running.

You can't run the whiplash cams in a computer controlled vehicle. Has to be a carb. I think they a video of it on there website.

If I ran 1.7s wouldn't it be pointless to run a 318 cam?

no, you'd see a nicle little bump for sure.. but you'd be pushing passing that CARB standard too..

if it is a problem though, you could always retain the 1.6 OE rockers and swap them out before an inspection.. it takes, what, like an hour to swap rocker rollers?

Might want to consider valve springs if you're going to use 1.7:1 ration rockers AND a 318 cam though.. and you may want to turn the crank by hand with the cover off to look at clearances too.. I think you'd be okay, because I don't think there is any difference between the 360 heads and the 318 heads- and folks run 1.7 rr's in 318's all day long.

Yeah 1.7's and a 318 cam would be great. That's what I plan on running in not so distant future.

don't look on craigslist for a new motor. MOST junkyards will swap an engine for 750 bucks (engine and labor). It is not a very big job. Junkyards have LOTS of magnum engines. They came in these vehicles:
Dodge Ram
Dodge Dakota
Dodge Durango
Jeep Grand Cherokee
sedans of the same era with a V8

Forget craigslist. That is third party. Why not buy wholesale!?!?!? Just go to a junkyard. They can tow your rig there once you pick an engine
