Does it keep spilling out if you just leave the coolant on the low line ? Its not suppose to be on the full line when its cold. Itll just expand like 2-3 inchs and overflow causing it to seem low when it cools down.

you need an overflow tank. Coolant has nowhere to expand to. not sure how you're running without one.

The system is designed to have one. Without one, you are indeed going to be spewing coolant all over the place. You should be able to pick one up at the junkyard for a couple bucks.

you should be spewing coolant all over the place with no coolant tank, its made to run with one and without one it will keep losing it until you start to overheat

Actually, without one you'll spew coolant until the level is so low that even hot it won't spew past the tank tube and will slowly boil out over time. And forget about any sort of pressure in the system to negate boil off.

Ah yea i thought something was fishy when he said no overflow tank... Yea man that is your problem.. The radiator cap has a little **** inside and when it reaches a certain pressure the **** opens and it pours the expanding coolant in a little hose and the hose goes tinto the overflow tank. Then when it cools the same thing happens except the overflow tank goes into the radiator.

Since you have no tank then like people said that is why you are spewing coolant all over the place, and when your coolant cools down it has no tank to get coolant from so eventually you run really low in the radiator. You need to go to the junkyard and get a coolant tank from a truck like yours.

You also said the temperature reader doesnt work... Imagine the engine trying to cool itself with half a radiator filled and half of it empty... Your going to eventually blow a head gasket or more and or crack your block like this. Since your temp gauge isnt working i could only imagine how hot its getting being low on coolant... Your playing a dangerous game

I just got this truck. It hasnt been ran in about two years. Deer took out everything upfront i installed a new radator and grille and a few other things. I know nothing about these gas motors. Ive always ran diesel trucks. Along those lines i know i need an overflow tank but was just suprised that it got hot enough to spew fluid out in just four miles in 30 degrees?
