Spare tire carrier
I am looking for a way to carry a full size 35" tires. From what I understand they will not install in the stock location. If anyone has a good way to mount a spare or can provide links or pics to any ideas you might have or are personally using. Thanks.
You have a pick up, just stick it in the bed
. A few months back, there was a guy on here that made his own (pre runner style mount). But if you search the internet, I think there are some companies that make one that bolts to the bed laying it flat. For security mainly.
edit: not cheap I'm sure.
edit: here is one, doing a quick google search. http://www.amazon.com/Fabtech-FTS100.../dp/B000CEQD5K

I have a mount that locks the tire down. I used to use tow straps to hold it in place, and that worked fine too. I have a locking bed cover, so I don't worry about it being stolen. If you don't, you might want to make sure you lock it down somehow.

This is the truck that zman was talking about. I bought it a few weeks ago to start my project on. I found this image on Pirate4x4 months ago and saved it. Thought it was a good idea. Take off on the tiregate product which is wayyyy overpriced. I prolly would have tied it down to the frame, but its pretty stout as it is. Its prolly going byebye in favor of twin spares out the back though as part of the bedcage. Like my expedition has.

What I don't like about it, is how gd noisy it is when you open it. The bushings screammmm. lol

I like the look of that. I'd like to find one the stands the tire up along the bed rail or up against cab. Everything I find is only good up to 7" rims. I want to keep as much of my bed space as I can, yet keep the spare accessible and secure.
Look on JC Whitney, they have one that stands the tire up next to the bed. Don't know what tire or rim size it will fit.
