First, make sure it is dead. Then, get yourself a sharp knife.... oh, what? Not THAT cat?? Oh. Well then......

Take out the pre-cat O2 sensor, disconnect the pipe at the rear of the cat. Get a reasonable long, sharp stick. (preferably something metal.) Use sharp stick to break up substrate in cat. Pick out what you can. When you have it reduced to small chunks, and have removed what you can, start the engine, and rap on it a couple times to blow the rest of the crap out. Reconnect pipe, put O2 sensor back in.

If you can weld, cut it in half. If not, cut the pipe on the rear side and take a long bar or pipe and beat the crap out of the guts. Remove the precat o2 so you don't damage it. Start it and let all the crap blow out.

Depending on the year of your truck, it may, or may not.... set a code for catalyst efficiency. If your truck is 95 or older, not a concern, as there is only one sensor. 96 and newer have two. If you end up with the code, there is a fix for that too.

The clocks LIE. The board seems to pick a random amount of time to be off on an hourly basis..... I think that has a fair bit to do with the posting silliness as well.
