no, i don't. mine are just open tubes.

i bought my 01 in 06, when it was exactly 5 years old and had about 120K. i don't know if it originally had slingers which got removed, or if it never had them??

i see no evidence that the axles were ever removed, and it had the original spicer axle u-joints. seemed to be original hub bearings and seals too, since they all went out at about 130-140K.

the original owner of my truck was a timber company in SC, so it spent a lot of time in the woods. when i removed the axles after a long period of leaking, i scraped out a ton of oil soaked SAND, STICKS, and small ROCKS from the tubes. lol. how do rocks get in the axle tubes. i guess they just jump in there.

Ok... after further inspection, I see lots fluid build up on the transmission lines going to the cooler at the front end of the truck. My truck came with a tranny cooler on it. My tranny started to slip in OD a few months ago, so I put a 1/2 quart of fluid in and it ran fine. Well, it started to slip again about a month ago and I again added some more fluid (1/2) quart. The slipping went away for a couple of weeks but now its back again, but not as frequent. Seems to only happen when it warms up.

So, I think that I am loosing tranny fluid somewhere, and being that the lines going to the cooler are full of gunk/fluid, this may be what I am seeing in the fender.

I don't know for sure, and I have no idea how to find a definately tranny leak. Any suggestions or thoughts? Again, thanks for all the help.

The quick connectors are probably leaking, clean everything off so you can pinpoint exactly where the leak is.

What should I replace? I was planning on replacing the tranny filter but now I suppose I should do something about the leak first.

OK zman... I did as you said and the hose on top in the picture was not on completely!! The hose clamp as not over the rib on the plastic pipe!!!!

It was leaking slowly in the drive way as I just started the motor and went throught the gears a few time.

This may be the result of some recent (8 months ago) damage sustained in a front end accident.

I think I got it... Im going to take it for a ride and see what I have when I get back.

There you go, by the looks of the clamp, I'd put a new one on.

edit and maybe cut the hose back a 1/2" or so, if you have a little extra slack.
