i had some uneven tire wear on the inside front of my last set of tires.
i'd like to get more even wear out of my new tires and figure i need a better alignment. educate me on how to best use the adjustable ball joint...
i've read the link below about 20 times, and sort of understand that caster is adjustable but camber is preset and not adjustable other than by using the offset ball joints. according to an internet guru i've never met, i want to meet the following specs.
From Brent - ASE Certified, Gold Certified Chrysler tech.
Specifications (my personal settings for every Ram I align):
Setting Left Right
Caster 3.2° 3.5°
Camber -0.10° -0.10°
Cross Caster -0.3°
Cross Camber 0.0°
Toe Standard specs, (maybe a little out if you tow a lot, they will pull in as the front end lifts up).
so i'm trying to figure out how to go about this. i'm thinking that i might need 2 trips to the alignment shop.
the first trip would be to get a basic alignment check, and see where things stand. if they can meet the above specs, i'm done.
if the camber is off, then i need to know how much its off, and then buy and install moog's adjustable ball joints. according to the moog document - at any time, during install, or after, you can loosen the nut, pull up the boot, and rotate the ball joint using a wrench. the rotation will change the camber up to 1.75 degrees in either direction.
so during my install, i could either guess at the rotation, or simply install them at 0*. Either way, i would need to revisit the alignment shop and let them put it back on the machine and adjust the rotation to the right spot to achieve the internet spec's.
anybody ever done this ?
is this the correct approach?
any better ideas ?

lower - $76 each at rockauto
MOOG Part # K7407

at these prices, unless the ball joints are worn out, it might be cheaper to replace the tires sooner than to replace these expensive-*** ball joints. lol.
anyone have different alignment specs?
