Make sure you have the new one handy before removing the old one because it starts barfing out tranny fluid as soon as you remove it. Very easy to change and gets rid of your P0720 code.

There ya go.

Real possibility that is the only one you have...... are you getting an ABS light? Does your speedo work right?

The description in the FSM really isn't that helpful.....

p0720 is for the speed sensor that is in the OD unit of the auto tranny. I know this because it is one of the codes I now have because I have swapped in a manual trans and am still using the auto computer.

Just my .02. But the code is for a output speed sensor. NOT a vehicle speed sensor. Big difference. rear diff has a VSS on it(just like the ABS/speed sensors on the front wheels) . A output speed sensor picks up its signal on either the output of the trans and/or input of the t-case(4wd). You dont have a scanner available? Lots of tests can be done to ensure that the sensor is bad or not. The code is for the signal the computer gets from the sensor. DOES NOT mean the sensor is bad. I've fixed this issue(CEL) without changing the sensor, it's not always the problem. JD
