Code P0720
I have a 1998 Doge Ram 2500 4x4 With the 5.9 360. I was driving this morning and all of a sudden it started to really shimmy and almost stalled completely. I pulled over and thew it in park and reved the engine a few times and it purred like a kitten. I then turned it off and restarted it and it threw a CEL. I then drove it about 12 miles home and it ran great. When I got home I got my superchips tuner out and it said the code was a P0720 output speed sensor circuit. I did a search on here on it but I'm a little confused. It seems that I might have 3 output speed sensors but which one would make it run rough like that for only a few seconds? Secondly I think I know where the one on the back differential is but where are the other two? Any ideas? Thanks guys!
BTW the speedo wasn't acting up or anything the motor just ran real rough.
It shows no codes except that one time. i cant't locate the problem at all. Last summer the speedo did act act up andd would go to 2000 at a stop light and just return to normal but thats it. this time it reallly acted up. I almost lost all power and it almost died. It's oviously not an sct tuner proplem and I need to know whot to change myself insdead of having a stearlship soak me!

i know theres one towards the front of the motor near the alternator on the 98's, just not sure of exact location....you can eliminate the sensor on the tailhousing of tranny, if it were that one, you'd have no speedo.
As zman17 said, it's on the driver side of the transmission near the back. My truck had the same code last summer and I replaced that sensor - new one was under $20 at NAPA. Make sure you have the new one handy before removing the old one because it starts barfing out tranny fluid as soon as you remove it. Very easy to change and gets rid of your P0720 code.
