Default Resolved: Fresh rebuild, runnin like crap, (video) PLEASE HELP!

I'll upload the video of what it sounds like in a little bit. (sucking sound is from the ram air intake)

Salvage engine with new gaskets. Every nut and bolt was gone over and rebuild the whole thing straight out of the manuel. For a while I couldn't even get it to fire. Moved the oil pump cam gear over one tooth and got it all back together, it fires now but sounds like ***. (watch attached video) Its misfiring/backfiring and has an extremely rough idle. Rotating the distributor helps very little but doesn't fix the issue. I hooked up a timing light to it and it doesn't get a constant signal. Its very speratic, almost as if plug one isn't getting a constant spark sent to it. New timing set, dis. cap and rotor.

I tend to think its a timing issue but am kinda lost. Please help! Thanks.

I don't think twisting that distributor is going to help you...

a new crank position sensor may though..

He stated in his post that the sucking sound is his ram air intake. I second the crank position sensor. That can wreak havoc with a lot of things.

you can not set the timing with the distributor on these engines, therefore a timing light is useless. you can only advance the cam timing by changing the sproket.

moving the distribitor will adjust the fuel curve

the pcm controls timing

Sorry, never got the video of it off of my brothers phone, but We got it up and running to-day and its purrin like a kitten. It was a bad crank sensor, replaced that and figured out the timing and its set to jet now! So glad that projects done, now onto the crap I need to fix on my truck!
