there is a couple ways you could go you could put a 3" body lift on it and it would give you a little more lift on it and will look godd those run around $230 for that and i f i was you i would go with a 4" suspension lift those can go from $700-1,400 i build custom lifts and if you have something particaular in mind let me know and ill get you the best price i can find

rough country has a 2.5 in front leveling kit and you will notice a big difference and doesnt bother your stock ride and its cheap.

I have 285's on my 98 1500 4x2. They work great, but I did upgrade to 2500 diesel coils in the front and new leafs out back. That leveled the truck. I looks and handles great.

Check some of the 3" kits from topguncustomz.com. Look for something with add a leafs and replacement coil springs. Also, don't make the mistake I did. Find one that has the drop pitman arm, track bar relocation bracket, and sway bar drop brackets. If the kit you like doesn't have them, add them to your order. 3" and 33's will look great.

I dont know what your budget is but for 285s I wouldnt go more than 3 in. of lift. a coil spacer is not a body lift just adds space between coils and bracket like a larger coil. its only like $75 I think for rough country.

Right now I have 265's on there and its going to be awhile before I go to 285's so will the 3" look good with the 265's ? Now are those stop brackets nessasary for the 3" or just certain ones and which ones? As far as just a level kit goes how do you know what size to get? Just trying to figure out the options here. Thanks for the help guys.

Different kits accomplish the front lift in one of two ways, either coil spacers, that go between the coil, and the upper spring mount, or, longer coils. Longer coils is best, but, also more expensive.

Rear is going to be blocks, add-a-leafs, or, new leaf springs. (in my order of preference, least, to most desired.) I am really unfriendly with stacking blocks, no matter how many manufacturers seem to do it, AAL's are the least expensive option I would consider, while replacement spring packs are the very best. Also, the most expensive......

As for which level kit you want, measure your truck. See how much higher the rear sits, as compared to the front... buy the leveling kit that gets you closest to what you want.

You should also consider new shocks for a 3" lift. (I think they are a requirement on the rear, at the very least.) Seems you don't need to extend the brakelines for 3".
