help ordering u-joints
hey guys, i need some help ordering some parts for my truck, its a 2000 1500 with 5.9 4x4. dana 44 front.
I need u-joints for the front end, the ones that are on each end of the front axle behind the wheel joints.
I am trying to order them from jcwhitney.
My problem is I have no idea what ones to order. they don't have the greatest breakdown and here are my options that I narrowed it down to;
Front Shaft CV at Transfer Case, 4WD; Double Cardan Joint; 2 Required
or
Front Shaft at Front Axle, 4WD
either way, they are 12.99 a pop, seems like a good price from me.
Or if anyone else has a better site to order replacement parts from they reccomend that accepts paypal?
thanks

Personaly, I wouldn't use anything but Spicer joints for the axle. The spicer # for the non greasable joint is 5-760x.
While they'll run you about twice what a JC Whitney joint will run, I believe thier quality is more consistent than cheaper imported joints.
BTW, you want to make sure and pack the cups with grease before assembly. These are non greasable, but greasable axle joints are availible...

Thats true, if it were me I'd replace the hub bearings as a precaution...or at least give 'em a wiggle before tearing into the job.

don't put in $12 u-joints in your front axle.
either use Spicer #760 or Precision #377.
order from Rockauto, Advance, Summit, or Amazon(free shipping).

thanks guys, I am actually replacing both front wheel bearing/hub assemblys, ball joints, rotors, pads, u-joints.. I just want to get everything correct in my mind before I tear into it and run into a problem.
The only other thing im not sure about is the ball joints.. just because I have never done any before.
