Default 214/224 Cam into my 97 360

I found this video on youtube... IM IN LOVE!!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6J4DimbFT1c

Ive done some cam work before, but only on carburetor motors. How hard would it be to get this kind of cam to match up with my fuel system?

I know he said it is a cam for a 408, what sort of troubles do you think he ran into getting this sexy beast to run?

Thanks

You would need a custom tune. Might need head work, depending on lift numbers. (don't want valves meeting pistons.... that's just bad.) Headers, and better flowing heads would compliment that nicely.

So if i ended up buying this cam, would it just be a swap in swap out type of thing. I would get the SCT Tuner and have at her???

Could i get away with using the current lifters and just replace the springs?

And another thing too, if i didnt replace the tq would the cam still idle like that? No one has ever explained the whole thing to me about changing the tq for stall rate

You may be able to get away with using the same lifters as they are rollers but since cams for magnums are expensive I would suggest getting new ones.

The new torque converter will not stall until a higher rpm allowing the motor to get into its torque range before the converter bogs it down.

If your motor is stock now I suspect that you will have poor driveability as that cam will need rpm's to make power and you will lose a good bit of bottom end torque.

My question would be, what limits valve lift on the stock engine? Do the springs get into coil bind, or, does the retainer meet the valve guide first??

Good point. I read somewhere that the factory magnum heads cannot go past .480 lift. I may be wrong though as it seems some people are going past this.

I just looked at the cam specs. That is a huge cam for a stock engine. The guy in the video had about the minimum mods for that cam to even be driveable.

So is it almost not worth doing if im going to be leaving the tq?

Is there any way i can get a cam that will give me that sexy cam stumble and not have to sacrifice any low end with a stock converter?

BTW what causes the cam to sound like that, is it duration or lift?
