Default registration renewal/smog certificate

Hi guys
My 2001 ram 1500 pickup is up for registration renewal which requires smog test cert. I have around 80K miles on the truck and it runs very good. I like to make sure that it passes the smog test on the first try. Does anyone know what else besides changing the plugs and the plug wires can improve the chances of passing the smog test here in california

Yeah they do run it on a dyno. Other then giving it a full tune up and changing oil, all you can do is cross your fingers.

In Massachusetts My truck got dyno'ed for emmissions, It was always fun watching when they first stepped on it, then got out and added more straps to keep it in place.

Not so fun when you see your rig on the dyno and they blow your ignition coil because there ignorant like they did with mine. I had to get it towed out to my house.

they put the truck on a dyno just to test emissions ?
and you have to pay for all the time and equipment involved in this test ?

that's got to be the most STUPID, STUPID, STUPID, waste of time and money that i've ever heard of.

how often do you have this done ?
and how much does it cost ?

^ It cost about $50 to $70 depending on where you go, and for my ram, I have to get it done every other year.
